Who we are?
Since 2018
Emakumeen Emaria
PROFESSIONALS FROM FIVE COUNTRIES
Women´s Legacy-Emakumeen Emaria is spearheaded by four women from Biscay with many years of experience in interpreting cultural heritage, who became involved in the Emakumeen Emaria campaign in 2018, promoted by the Biscay Provincial Council:
We are an enthusiastic team, made up of professionals from five countries, with different backgrounds, who share a common interest: to promote women’s cultural heritage throughout Europe.
Amaia Apraiz Sahagún
Independent consultant
PhD in Art History, works as an independent consultant in the field of cultural heritage. She believes that it is essential to know about and disseminate women’s contributions to cultural heritage in order to achieve a more egalitarian future for men and women, and she is actively working to achieve this.
Aintzane Eguilior Mancisidor
Strategic projects
She has headed the cultural heritage dissemination programmes at Bizcay Provincial Council (BizkaiKOA) for more than 20 years. She has a degree in History and a postgraduate degree in Cultural Heritage Interpretation. She advocates networking to achieve greater “resonance” and visibility in all initiatives in favour of equality and campaigns to disseminate heritage.
Ainara Martínez Matía
PhD in History of Art
One of her priority lines of research is applying the gender perspective to the knowledge, protection, interpretation and dissemination of cultural heritage. Her focus is on developing effective tools to create new narratives that recognise the role of women throughout history.
M.ª José Torrecilla Gorbea
Historian and archaeologist
Works as an expert in conservation and is head of research at La Encartada Fabrika-Museoa. She is convinced of the role of museums as agents of social education, and advocates programming specific actions where the transfer of knowledge forges criteria that help to change attitudes and build a fairer society.
We are searching for other Europen projects and initiatives to incorporate to our platform and widen our net. Would you like to come on board?
